Distribution of Funds
The following examples will help clarify how School Counts! funds are distributed.
Example 1
James will graduate from high school with four School Counts certificates and is planning to attend MCC during the 2008-2009 academic year. His EFC (estimated family contribution) was too high and he is ineligible for federal financial aid, but he will receive KEES (Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship) funding. Because he is receiving no other financial aid or scholarships, James will receive School Counts funding. James’ total funding for the year is below:

Example 2

She applied for financial aid and will be receiving a state CAP (College Access Program) Grant in the amount of $700 per semester. She is also receiving $500 in KEES funds. Molly’s total funding for the year is below:

Example 3

Brittany’s total funding for the year is below:
