MADISONVILLE, Ky.— Madisonville Community College students, LaAsia Couch and Whitney Chandler, have been named to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) All-Kentucky Academic Team in recognition of their scholastic achievements.
Couch, of Madisonville, will graduate from MCC this spring with an Associate of Science transfer degree. She was a recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. and William C. Parker scholarships. She is a National All American Miss finalist. She plans to major in pre-medicine.
Couch has been active in a variety of activities on campus, including Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Multicultural Student Association, Student Ambassadors, and Student Government Association, serving as President for 2008-2009. She was also one of four MCC students nominated to the All-USA Today Academic Team.
Chandler, of Livermore, will also graduate this spring with an Associate of Applied Science degree in radiography. She has been named to the Dean’s List at MCC and has received several academic scholarships. Her long-term academic goal is to obtain a Master’s degree and become a radiography instructor.
Chandler has been active in the Christ Reaching Out Saving Students (CROSS) organization as well as the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). She also placed second in the Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists student competition. She was also nominated to the All-USA Today Academic Team. When she is not helping on her family’s farm, Chandler works as a radiologic technologist aide at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Couch and Chandler will be recognized for selection to the KCTCS All-Kentucky Academic Team at a luncheon in Lexington on May 16.
