Caring for Your Skin Type

Basic Normal Skin

A.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Toner (optional)
  3. Sunscreen in a lightweight or matte base (rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)
P.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Toner (optional)
  3. Lightweight moisturizer (only over dry patches and around the eyes)


Mature Normal Skin

A.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Toner (optional)
  3. AHA product in a moisturizing base and/or Renova (if using both, apply the renova at night)
  4. Sunscreen (rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)
P.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Toner (optional)
  3. AHA product in a moisturizing base and/or Renova (if using both, apply the renova at night)
  4. Moisturizer for dry areas, including eyes


Basic Oily Skin

A.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Toner (optional)
  3. AHA product in a gel base (if breakouts are present, a BHA product in a gel or liquid base is another option
  4. Sunscreen (perferably in a foundation rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)

  3. AHA product in a gel base (if breakouts are present, a BHA product in a gel or liquid base is another option

  2. Topical disinfectant(if breakouts are present, a BHA product in a gel or liqid base is another option)
  3. Moisturizer (for dry areas only, including eyes)
  4. Sunscreen (perferably in a foundation rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)

Very Dry Skin

  4. Sunscreen in a moisturizing base (rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)
  5. A more emollient moisturizer (if needed, apply after the sunscreen over the driest areas)

Sensitive/Allergy-Prone Oily Skin

A.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Over-the-counter cortisone cream (only when irritaiton or skin reaction occur)
  3. Topical disinfectant (over breakouts)
  4. Sunscreen in a moisturizing base (rated SPF 15 with avobenzone, titanium dioxide, and/or zinc oxide)
P.M.    
  1. Water-soluble cleanser
  2. Over-the-counter cortisone cream (only when irritaiton or skin reaction occur)
  3. Lightweight moisturizer (over dry patches or around the eyes)

  2. Over-the-counter cortisone cream (only when irritaiton or skin reaction occur)
  3. Lightweight moisturizer (over dry patches or around the eyes)
  4. Facial mask of milk of magnesia (at least once a week, if the skin can handle it)


Any Kind of Skin with Brown or Ashen Skin Discolorations

A.M.
   Follow the skin-care regime for your skin type. Before applying the appropriate sunscreen, apply a thin layer of skin-lightening lotion or gel over areas of the face, hands, and body, with pigment discolorations. Finally, apply the sunscreen. (Please note that any skin- lightening product can be effective only if a reliable sunscreen is used.)

P.M.
   Follow the skin-care regime for your skin type. Before applying the appropriate nighttime moisturizer (optional), apply a thin layer of a skin-lightening lotion over areas of the face, hands, and body with pigment discolorations. Finally, apply a moisturizer if needed.
